The ivoroid heel cap is bordered in black-white-black purfling the back stripe is the traditional J-200 marquetry mosaic of alternating light and dark rectangles. This guitar has large sealed-back gold plated Grover brand tuners, each with four stripes on its back it has a friendly, 1 11/16 th” width low profile neck that is comprised of two sections of curly maple and a center stripe of what might be walnut. It sits directly below Gibson’s classic logo, and is exclusive to the Custom Montana Gold. The Custom Montana Gold from Gibson Acoustic sports a custom designed, hand crafted peghead inlay featuring a “Montana Gold” banner with wheat accents, made of gold mother of pearl. As with all of Gibson Acoustic’s pickguards, the coloring, inlay, and binding are all done by hand. The tortoise pickguard for the Custom Montana Gold is Gibson’s standard Super Jumbo shape, hand-engraved with clusters of wheat with a “Montana Gold” banner hung in the middle.
The fingerboard also sports a rolled edge-instead of the usual right angle where the fingerboard surface meets the neck, Gibson Acoustic’s rolled edge is slightly beveled for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel, enhancing the playability of the Custom Montana Gold.
